The African Violet, Cape Primrose and the Common Violet are favorites of mine. Although the African Violet is from Africa it isn't actually a true violet. It is one of the most common house plants today. They bloom year round, with single or double flowers. They produce pink, purple, blue, violet, rose or white flowers.

Oh Miss Colleen,
ReplyDeleteThis post brought tears to my eyes. My grandmother raised me and her favorite flowers were African Violets!! Thanks for the memories. Sadly I don't have a lot of luck with African Violets :=(

They are indeed beautiful. Reminds me of spring and warmth.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific day. Big hug. :)
I love violets.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom will be 86 on the 22nd. Her home is full of African Violets. I can't ever see one without thinking of her. It's only fitting that one of her granddaughters and 3 (almost 4) great grandchildren are in Kenya as missionaries.
