Helping Cancer Patients

With hundreds of thousands of Americans battling cancer every year, one of the most unsettling side effects of the treatment can be hair loss. If you are looking for a place where you can help by donating hair, so wigs can be made for cancer patients, one of your best bets is Locks of Love.
The non-profit organization makes wigs for children who have cancer and other illnesses. But to make sure your hair is used, be sure to follow the organization's guidelines. The hair must be ten inches long and it must be in a ponytail or braid before it is cut.Put it in a plastic bag and mail it in a padded envelope.Hair that is swept off the floor or hair that is bleached is not usable.
You can mail your donations to:
Locks of Love
234 Southern Boulevard
West Palm Beach, FL 33405
You can find more information at:www.locksoflove.org

  1. I had a friend that just went through the hair loss a couple of years back. She is now cancer free and her hair is more beautiful than ever. She did wear a very nice wig for a long time though. I don't know if she got it from Locks of Love however. What a wonderful organization they are too.

Hope you and Wayne are having a wonderful day. Big hug. :)

  2. OMG! I know I stumbled across your corner of the blogosphere for a reason today. Over a year ago, I had over ten inches cut off my hair. I intend to donate it to Locks of Love, in my late daughter's memory. She was in the process of getting a wig when she passed.

The hair sits in my drawer. I am not sure why it sits there in a bag. The excuse I give is that I didn't know where to send it. I imagine it goes deeper than that.

Now, with the address to send it glaring in my face....it WILL get in the mailbox this week in honor of my daughter, the late Olivia Grace 1992-2204. Thank you for this.

  3. My husband (whose hair grows astonishingly fast for some reason) grows his hair out and cuts it every two to three years for the express purpose of donating it to Locks of Love. We've both lost family members to cancer and I so appreciate this post.
